About me

I am a naturalist and writer living in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.

Like many over Lockdown, I spent my one walk a day exploring the natural spaces on my doorstep. I developed a keen interest in birdwatching. I am lucky to live very close the Silksworth Lakes and enjoy visiting all year round to follow the lives of the wildlife there.

Despite being designated a Local Wildlife Spot by Sunderland Council, I’m sure many users of the space will agree that the lakes are largely ignored by our local authority and falling into disrepair. The impact of humans is the main cause of this, through littering, pollution, arson, and anti-social behaviour.

My dream is for the community to come together to protect this precious space and the wildlife that call it home.
